A blown truck tire is not an accident that happened to a truck. It is usually the last event in a long chain of choices, and the chain is written down.
Deblading is the failure where the tread and the steel belts peel away from the body of a tire, often in one violent instant at highway speed. On a loaded tractor-trailer it does two things at once. It drops the load that tire was carrying, and it throws a sudden pull to one side. On a steer tire, the truck lunges toward the failed side, and the driver has a fraction of a second to catch it.
The reason it happens is mostly heat. An underinflated or overloaded tire flexes more with every turn of the wheel, and that flexing builds heat in the sidewall faster than the tire can shed it. Run that for miles at speed in Texas summer heat and the bond between rubber and steel breaks down until it gives. The federal safety agency has documented for years how underinflation and overload drive these failures.
That is why a blown tire is a documents case. The condition that killed the tire leaves a record: inflation logs, maintenance and inspection sheets, the tire’s age and retread history, the load on that axle, the miles it had run. “The tire just blew” is where the real work starts, not where it ends.
Know the word, and know what it points to. Deblading is not weather and it is not fate. It is a maintenance question with a paper answer, and the answer is usually sitting in a file somewhere, waiting for someone to ask for it.
